The Viersen Parlor is a restored Victorian‑era sitting room located within the Historical Village. Designed to reflect the style and atmosphere of a late‑19th‑century Dutch‑American home, it showcases period furnishings, decorative arts, and domestic details that illustrate how families of the time welcomed guests and spent their leisure hours.
The Pella Historical Society is home to a collection of art pieces by Gerhard Nollen (1830-1901), a prominent Dutch-American portrait and landscape artist who immigrated to Pella, Iowa, in the 1850s, and was known as 'Pella's Dutch Master,' with several of his works showcased in the Viersen Parlor within the Historical Village.
Showcased in the Viersen Parlor within the Historical Village, this Bible was hand‑copied by Eldert Groenendyke, an immigrant from the Netherlands. He translated it from his own Dutch Bible, using the act of transcription as a way to learn the English language.
